Strengthening the role of women in land management and productive resources "improves their well-being and that of their families

Actions of the Women`s Space Project have contributed to raising awareness about women`s land rights. The Annual Forum of the Women`s Space Project is now in its 5th edition. This is a project dedicated to promoting women`s rights in access to land, housing and community participation, implemented in the country in March 2022, in the municipalities of Huambo, Cachiungo and Chicala-Cholohanga, Huambo province.

Speaking at the 5th Annual Forum of the Women`s Space Project, its coordinator, Moisés Festo, argued that "strengthening the role of women in the management of land, housing and productive resources contributes not only to their individual well-being, but also to the stability of families, local economic growth and the building of more resilient and inclusive communities."

This initiative is framed within the strategic vision of Development Workshop Angola for the period 2023–2027, which reaffirms secure access to land as a fundamental factor for human dignity, food security, family stability, and social inclusion.

According to the institution, the project is already showing significant results, highlighting the increased participation of women in community decision-making spaces, the strengthening of knowledge about their rights, and the growing appreciation of the female role in the economic and social development of communities.

The event is held as part of the Family Days, in a partnership between Development Workshop Angola (DW) and Rooftops Canada, with funding from the Government of Canada, bringing together representatives from public institutions, civil society organizations, traditional authorities, community leaders and members of beneficiary communities, in a space for reflection and dialogue on gender equality, social inclusion and sustainable development.

Thus, the Annual Forum of the Women`s Space Project also represents an opportunity to consolidate partnerships and deepen dialogues on the need to transform cultural and customary practices that continue to limit women`s rights.
